Meet Member Artist Denise Sawatzky…

My name is Denise Sawatzky, and I have been a resident of Savage for 20 years. I was born and raised around the Chicago area but fell in love with Minnesota after a job relocation.

After many, many years of corporate graphic design, art direction and computer-generated art, I wanted to reconnect with creating my own artwork during the Covid Pandemic. After cleaning out and organizing my garage, I became inspired with utilizing simple flat metal washers as a base for my dimensional nature inspired abstracts. It has become my full-time passion! I strive to bring a fresh and compelling composition to each piece in which it reveals the simplest of beauty in everything.

If you enjoy the arts and being creative, I highly recommend coming to Open Studio on Wednesdays at the Savage Arts Center and even join as a member of the Savage Area Arts Community. I look forward to meeting new artists to share our experiences within the Savage Area Arts Community.
