Meet Member Artist Dar Brooks!

My husband and I have lived in Prior Lake for 40 years and are blessed to have our adult son and his wife living in Prior Lake and an adult son in Bloomington. Our daughter is deceased but her 12 year old daughter, our grandchild, lives in Prior Lake. I have been teaching adult and children's art classes and workshops for over 30 years in Minnesota, and all over the United States, Mexico and France. I enjoy teaching “No Mistakes Watercolor” every Friday through Community Education in Prior Lake. The students have expressed their appreciation of my fun, spontaneous, interactive, non-judgmental teaching style and the skills and techniques they have learned. I am known as an experimental artist specializing in mixed water media including watercolors, inks, acrylics, collage, nature items, and more. Each of my paintings is an expression of my life at that moment in time. Vivid color and textures are the inspiration of my art. I am spontaneous and free in my approach to painting. However, there is a visual, yet spiritual, turning point in the process of my painting. When that point is intuitively acknowledged, the quality and content of my work can be very powerful. Sharing my passion for life and beauty by creating art, is very important to me. My hope is that the viewer will be impacted, having the visual experience evoke a sense of intrigue, mystery, plus emotional healing. Over the years I have experienced great expression and healing through art which led me to become a Master Guided Imagery and Healing Touch Practitioner.  I use art as healing to help my clients tap into their creativity for a brighter future and life changes.

The Savage Area Arts Community is important to me because I have the opportunity to be with friends and fellow artists who share a passion for the arts. Sharing time with them and making new connections with those interested in the arts is an inspiration. It feels so incredible to get input and share creative ideas with members of our Savage Arts group.
