Meet Member Artist Corinna Gilbert!

Corinna Gilbert is a new artist from Prior Lake who loves watercolor painting. After a thirty-five-year career in technology marketing and sales, plus raising two daughters, she found herself with some free time. Even though she had only taken art classes in public school before, she always dreamed of exploring a new creative hobby.

Now that she’s retired, her sister, who’s also an artist and very talented, encouraged her to pick up watercolor painting to keep her creative spirit alive. The two sisters started painting together twice a week, learning from books and online videos and courses. Corinna has also taken several watercolor classes at Prior Lake/Savage Community Education, the Minnesota Arboretum, and the American Swedish Institute to learn new techniques and refine her style.

Corinna recently joined the Savage Area Arts Community upon the merger of the Savage organization with the Prior Lake Art Dock of which she was a founding member. Corinna was the lead on the Pleasant Street Art Walk’s community project, where everyone was invited to contribute to a lake-themed mural. Corinna enjoys painting with friends and family and is always encouraging others to try watercolors! The Savage Area Arts Community is lucky to have Corinna’s leadership and involvement as we strive to build a community that supports and benefits by the arts!
