Around the Samovar: Insights into Folk Craft of the Slavic World
Join us and learn the dynamic history of craft embroidery practices, folk dress traditions, and creative rituals of the Slavic world - from the Caspian Sea to the Carpathian Mountains. Learn the regional designs and histories of Slavic folk embroidery, experience a traditional Slavic tea service, and examine vibrant antique and archival textile samples of Slavic folk costumes. Then experience instruction and practice the basic-intermediate cross stitch technique fundamental to traditional Slavic embroidery. Participants will be provided with all craft materials necessary to enjoy the class (e.g. canvas materials, needles, threads, full-color pattern). This class is suitable for adults of all ages. Our floral guides and instructors will walk you through color pairing, arrangement tips, wrapping styles, and design techniques—perfect for beginners or anyone who loves flowers.
